Greg Mace Peak nestled in the Elk Range near Aspen-Snowmass Colorado provided the setting for this backcountry excursion. Conveniently born on May 31st when the time is prime for exploring the avalanche prone terrain, we celebrated Rob’s birthday with a powdery adventure from 12,500 feet with a mountain goat, ptarmigan and fresh tracks.

14,265 foot Castle Peak in the Elk Range Colorado provided the setting for this adventure. With a permanent snowfield between Castle Peak and Conundrum Peak there is always fun to be had. A blue moon, an ice cave, a pond skim and other features made this trip one for the books.
